Michael Paul was an Elder of Temagami First Nation (TFN) and in early 1980s related stories and legends of his people to archeologist Thor Conway.

He took part in Red Squirrel Road blockades in Temagami, which were a part of Temagamis' struggle to protect their ancestral lands.
